Mission
Civic Projects:
Some of the past projects of the clubs included: furnishing a room at the Irving hospital, planting many trees in the city of Irving, buying art materials for different age levels in the Irving School System, providing scholarships to art students, purchasing chairs for Irving Theater, making donations to Irving Heritage Society, the Helping Hand School, the Irving Library, Chimes and the Battered Women’s Shelter.

In recent years civic projects of the Garden and Arts Club have included donations to Irving Cares and Brighter Tomorrows and decorating The Children’s Center, a stop on the Irving Healthcare Foundation’s Christmas Tour of Homes. The club also participated in the Remember Me Rose Garden project, established to honor the firefighters of 9/11, by purchasing and planting two commemorative roses to honor Irving firefighters who lost their lives in the line of duty.

The Irving Garden and Arts Club members, in Marilyn's memory, voted to present North Lake College with a doantion in the amount of $500 to be awarded to art students particularly deserving of scholarship funds.

Marilyn June Mason Chandeler(born: 1925, died: 2010) was a valued and loved member of the Irving Garden and Arts Club since its creation in 1957. Among Offices held, Marilyn served as president from 1997 to 1999, historian of the club's activities and chair of the Sunshine Committee.
Marilyn was a ​talented artist on the Irving art scene for about 45 years. She was a signature member of the Southwestern Watercolor Society and a lifetime member of the Irving Art Association. She won several best of show awards over the years and in 1985 originated the prestigious Texas & Neighbors Regional Art Show.
